TOURS

Would you like to visit the country and learn to know its people and culture? Accompanied by my colleague, a German and English speaking Mongolian guide? Would you like to plan your own itinerary on your way to meet Mongolians and experience their way of life?

I promise, you're bound to have a fantastic experience! Should you wish, I will help you organise one of the following tours (and even a tour entirely according to your preferences) into this region of the world. May be you would like to enjoy extensive horse riding or a hunting adventure?

The costs range from CHF 3000.- (EURO 1900.-) upwards per person, depending on the nature and length of the tour. The number of participating persons influences the costs, too.

I organise tours for groups not larger than six persons. Please contact me, let me know a date, and ask for further information. Would you like to travel in groups of two or three persons?

Winter Holiday in Mongolia

Into the coldness and isolation - an exclusive experience!

In Mongolia: frozen soil with little snow covering the sparse and brown grass, which during the winter, is the only nutrition for the animals, such as yaks, sheep, goats and horses of the Mongolians.

Have you ever wished to experience, well equiped with warm clothes, in clean and clear air, a winter full of surprises? Love for adventure is required, since during this time of the year travelling may be quite challenging.

Fishing on the ice: There are hardly any better fish than in the lakes of Mongolia. Since rivers and lakes are covered in ice during winter, people drill holes into the ice surface, and seated on chairs or lying on the ground, wait for the fish to catch the bait. Baked under the sky, on a bright and sunny day with temperatures often dropping below -15C, the fish tastes deliciously. The Mongolians, however, prefer not to eat fish, since traditional beliefs are, that animals of the sky (birds) and animals living in the water, should not belong to the diet.

Two Months Holiday in Mongolia

According to Mongolians such a journey has to start towards the East. The tour lasts for a period of two months, with two four-wheel drives equiped with yurt, tent and the necessary food. The beginning of the tour is always a challenge. At the end you will feel deep satisfaction, and you will be convinced of having experienced a unique holiday.

The Mongolian animal life is rich. White-tailed eagles, bustards, vultures, steppe eagles and a variety of small birds can be seen everywhere. In the region of the steppes you may find various species of antilops. Foxes, marmots and wolves are also members of the Mongolian animal kingdom.

There are many surprises during a journey lasting more than two months, despite the responsible, German and English speaking tour guide and two drivers. Such an expedition is only possible with a small group. No more than two or three persons can join the team.

Wilderness and Adventure Holiday in Mongolia

You will travel with yurt and tent along tracks far away from mainstream tourism, learning to know a remote part of the country and visiting ancient and isolated cultural monuments. The tour follows the long hills of the steppe landscape. With luck you may see a group of vultures fighting around a dead animal, or are they human remains from a burial ritual?

Western people often find it hard to get used to Mongolian food at the beginning. It is a must, however, for every adventurous traveller to adopt and experience the eating customs.

The peculiarly tasting, fatty tea, which is served everywhere and at every time of the day, is not sweet, but salty. It is the most important beverage in the country and has little in common with our western tea. Sometimes peasant outside the urban areas drink sour milk from hares.

Curd, a type of unsalted cheese produced without rennin, is served in various ways. Thick sour milk and cream also form part of the daily menu in the country.

During such a tour, accomadation for a number of days with a Mongolian family in the country side can be planned. You will be able to get to know the daily life patterns and farming work. There is also the possibility to ride on a horse's back.

Design your own tour

You can design all tours according to your wishes, if you book for a whole group.

With all tours it is possible to plan for accommodation for a number of days with a traditional Mongolian family in the country. This way you will be able to closely experience the life of the Mongolian people.

If you are a recreational fisher, I can offer you the unique holiday package for recreational fishing (see under D: Special fishing holiday). You have the opportunity to choose between three different places for fishing. I guarantee, you will be lucky! Pike, perch, carp and trout, and many more fishes dwell in the lakes and rivers of Mongolia.

Would you prefer to ride on a horse's back during your holidays? I would be happy to organise a program.

Which part of Mongolia would you like to know in more depth? The Altai mountains, the steppes and Gobi desert or the forest regions? With a two-months package you will be able to see all three regions. I can offer you various suggestions. Depending on your time and the prefered region, you will be able to make one trip by plane and the other with a four-wheel drive, both trips by plane, or both trips with a four-wheel drive.
